Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lilianne Sherrell and Kaylan Angel Lead Bledsoe County to Victory

Bledsoe County hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They took down the Brainerd Panthers 46-28 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 54-49 back in January.

Bledsoe County was led to victory by Kaylan Angel and Lilianne Sherrell. Angel went 6-for-11 en route to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, while Sherrell went 6-for-12 to rack up 18 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Sherrell a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (63%). Another player making a difference was Molly Agee, who posted seven points and five boards.

Bledsoe County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Bledsoe County's win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Brainerd, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bledsoe County will host Marion County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brainerd, they will be playing at home against Sequatchie County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sequatchie County will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Brainerd surely won't give up without a fight.
