Basketball Recap: Ben Reed Key Part of a Team Effort in MUSTANGS/AMAZONS Win

Madeira won the last time they faced Georgetown and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS skirted past the Georgetown G-Men 48-46. Given the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the G-Men are ranked 776th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Madeira's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ben Reed led the charge by going 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. Reed has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Eli Beck was another key player, going 6 of 10 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Madeira's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Georgetown, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Madeira will be playing in front of their home fans against Taylor at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Taylor will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Madeira surely won't give up without a fight. As for Georgetown, they will head out to take on Blanchester at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Georgetown is facing Blanchester at the right time seeing as Blanchester is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
