Baseball Game Preview: Polytechnic Panthers vs. Flintridge Prep Wolves

The Polytechnic Panthers will face off against the Flintridge Prep Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Polytechnic has given up an average of 6.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Polytechnic came up short against Marshall on Saturday, falling 17-8. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Myles Pergament and Elijah Ip did some serious damage despite the final result: Pergament got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Ip went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Flintridge Prep fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Rio Hondo Prep on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Kares by a score of 5-4.

Will Grable put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Grable wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Christopher Chino, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Another was Spencer Rolfe, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Polytechnic's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Flintridge Prep, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
