Preview: Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars vs. Woodland Wolverines
Ridgeland-Hardeeville and Woodland are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Woodland Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Ridgeland-Hardeeville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Woodland is ranked 51st).
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Ridgeland-Hardeeville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 49-45 W over Edisto. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ridgeland-Hardeeville.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridgeland-Hardeeville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jabien Harris, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Harris has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Malik Aquamina, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Woodland scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 78-37 win over Barnwell. With Woodland ahead 44-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Woodland, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville took a serious blow against Woodland in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 65-36. Thankfully for Ridgeland-Hardeeville, Tyquan Cobbs (who scored 17 points along with three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
