Football Game Preview: Woodbridge Barrons vs. Montgomery Cougars

The Woodbridge Barrons will head out to face off against the Montgomery Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodbridge is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Woodbridge's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 41-0 victory over Perth Amboy. That 41 point margin sets a new team best for the Barrons this season.

Joshua Allen had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 169 yards and four scores on only ten carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Woodbridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 174 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Another reason for the win was Woodbridge's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Perth Amboy's QB won't forget Dylan Sabb anytime soon given he sacked him three times.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Montgomery took on Linden on Friday. The Cougars managed a 22-16 win over the Tigers.

Woodbridge's record is now 6-0. As for Montgomery, their record now sits at 5-1.

Everything went Woodbridge's way against Montgomery in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Woodbridge made off with a 28-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Barrons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
