Baseball Recap: Walnut Takes a Loss

Walnut extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 8-16 in the process. They fell 6-3 to the Glendora Tartans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tartans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 13-6 loss on Thursday.

As for Glendora, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

For Glendora's part, Santiago Garza and Tanner Grable dominated on the mound. Garza tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit, while Grable tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Garza has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tyler Obert was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walnut will face off against Dana Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Glendora, they will take on Downey at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
