Softball Preview: Fleetwood Tigers vs. Muhlenberg Muhls
The Fleetwood Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Muhlenberg Muhls at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Things were looking good for Fleetwood after they put the first points on the board two weeks ago, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 14-3 to Wilson.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Muhlenberg, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They skirted past Schuylkill Valley 15-14. The win was a breath of fresh air for Muhlenberg as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Madison Wentzel made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Wentzel was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Erin Smith was incredible, going 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaela Eaton, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Fleetwood now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Muhlenberg, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8.
Everything went Fleetwood's way against Muhlenberg in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as Fleetwood made off with a 14-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fleetwood since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
