Basketball Recap: East Dubuque Comes Up Short

East Dubuque lost against River Ridge/Scales Mound back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The East Dubuque Warriors fell 57-48 to the River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 15-6 in the first quarter.

River Ridge/Scales Mound's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laiken Haas, who posted 15 points along with six assists and four steals. Haas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Winter, who put up 15 points.

East Dubuque's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, their victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Dubuque will head out to challenge Black Hawk at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Black Hawk knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully East Dubuque likes a good challenge. River Ridge/Scales Mound has already played their next game (against Benton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
