Volleyball Recap: Smyrna's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Smyrna took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Warren County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs won by a set and slipped past the Pioneers & Lady Pioneers 3-2. While the Bulldogs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (107-99) Smyrna actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 26-24, 25-21, 13-25, 15-12.

Kierstan Blocker paced Smyrna's offense, picking up 21 kills. Blocker got some help from Ava Francis and her 55 assists. Emma Brooks controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Smyrna, bringing their record up to 7-4. As for Warren County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Smyrna has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Shelbyville Central on the 5th. As for Warren County, they will square off against Stewarts Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
