Basketball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Ontario Christian

Ontario Christian had won seven straight games and Cole Jones did his part to make it eight on Friday. The Ontario Christian Knights put the hurt on the Woodcrest Christian Royals with a sharp 75-52 victory thanks in part to Jones, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 boards. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Mason Salazar was another key player, going 7 of 15 on his way to 16 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played.

Despite the loss, Woodcrest Christian still got an impressive performance from Riley Downs, who went 8 of 20 on his way to 23 points along with five boards and three steals. That's the most points Downs has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Carlson, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points.

Ontario Christian is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points per game. As for Woodcrest Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ontario Christian will head out to challenge Aquinas at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Woodcrest Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Arrowhead Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
