Basketball Recap: Olton Comes Up Short

Olton played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 76-18 loss at the hands of the Farwell Steers. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 401st, while the Steers are ranked 37th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Farwell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landri Richey, who went 6 of 14 en route to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Makylee Baldwin, who went 9 for 16 on her way to 18 points and six steals.

Olton dropped their record down to 19-8 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Farwell, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 25-3.

Olton has already played their next match (against Bovina), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Farwell will challenge Hale Center at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Farwell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Hale Center likes a good challenge.
