Volleyball Recap: Jserra Catholic's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

After flying high against Dana Hills on Tuesday, JSerra Catholic came back down to earth. The Lions took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Torrey Pines Falcons on Thursday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Torrey Pines scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18.

Makayla Ziegler paced JSerra Catholic's offense, picking up 17 kills. Ziegler got some help from Catherine Beadles and her 39 assists. Charlotte Nowak and Katherine Nowak kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

The defeat snapped JSerra Catholic's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-6 record. As for Torrey Pines, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Coming up, JSerra Catholic will take on Menlo School in a tournament on Friday. As for Torrey Pines, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Cathedral Catholic at 6:00 p.m.
