Basketball Recap: Rio Rancho Rams vs. Volcano Vista Hawks
On Thursday, the Rio Rancho Rams faced the Volcano Vista Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Rio Rancho took a 70-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The match was a 30-30 toss-up at halftime, but Rio Rancho couldn't quite close it out.
Volcano Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taejhuan "TT" Hill, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mila Espinoza, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Rio Rancho's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Volcano Vista, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.
Rio Rancho will head out on the road to challenge the Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Cleveland is ranked 18th, while the Rams are ranked 12th). As for Volcano Vista, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m.
