Soccer Game Preview: Longview vs. Rockwall

For the first time this season, Longview will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will take on the Rockwall Yellowjackets at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Longview knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Rockwall likes a good challenge.

Longview's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Fort Bend Elkins 8-0. Given Longview's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Fort Bend Elkins are ranked 497th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Rockwall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Episcopal. That's two games in a row now that Rockwall have lost by just one goal.

Rockwall's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Longview, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.

Longview couldn't quite get it done against Rockwall when the teams last played back in February of 2025 as they fell 4-2. Can the Lobos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
