Basketball Game Preview: Lafayette Rams vs. Grafton Clippers

The Lafayette Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Grafton Clippers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Lafayette sitting on four straight wins and Grafton on eight.

Lafayette is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by York to the tune of 62-16 on Tuesday. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

Lafayette's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarah Lynch, who posted 19 points and four steals. That's the most steals Lynch has posted since back in January of 2024. MaKayla Keys was another key player, putting up 14 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Grafton didn't have too much trouble with New Kent on Tuesday as they won 61-44. The Clippers pushed the score to 48-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans cut but never quite recovered from.

Grafton pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Lafayette, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Everything went Lafayette's way against Grafton in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Lafayette made off with a 54-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lafayette since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
