Basketball Game Preview: Northside Vikings vs. Christiansburg Blue Demons

After both having extra time off, the Northside Vikings and the Christiansburg Blue Demons will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Saturday, Northside came up short against Wilson Memorial and fell 44-34. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Green Hornets are ranked 101st).

Meanwhile, Christiansburg managed to keep up with Hidden Valley until halftime two weeks ago, but things quickly went downhill from there. Christiansburg came up short against Hidden Valley, falling 62-37. While the Blue Demons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Titans 17-12 in the first quarter.

Christiansburg's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Northside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Northside couldn't quite finish off Christiansburg in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 48-46. Can Northside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
