Basketball Game Preview: Bertha-Hewitt Bears vs. New York Mills Eagles

The Bertha-Hewitt Bears will venture away from home to take on the New York Mills Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bertha-Hewitt knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully New York Mills likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Bertha-Hewitt was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 72-66 to Verndale. The Bears have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, New York Mills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Henning 84-36. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while the Hornets are ranked 129th).

New York Mills' loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Bertha-Hewitt, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Bertha-Hewitt came up short against New York Mills in their previous meeting back in January, falling 79-75. Can Bertha-Hewitt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
