Basketball Recap: Plainfield East Bengals vs. Metea Valley Mustangs
Plainfield East lost against Metea Valley back in January of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Plainfield East Bengals took a 70-54 bruising from the Metea Valley Mustangs. The Bengals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Plainfield East's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abigail Nawa, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and three steals. Nawa is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Rodgers, who had six points and five rebounds.
Metea Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Annie Burk out in front who put up 16 points. The dominant performance gave Burk a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Giannone, who posted 14 points.
Plainfield East's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Metea Valley, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.
Plainfield East will take on Plainfield South at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Plainfield South will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Plainfield East surely won't give up without a fight. As for Metea Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-49 victory against Willowbrook on the 9th.
