Soccer Game Preview: St. Mark's vs. Wilmington Friends

The St. Mark's Spartans will face off against the Wilmington Friends Quakers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

St. Mark's is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Wilmington Charter, who was ranked tenth at the time (St. Mark's was ranked fifth). The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw on Tuesday. St. Mark's loss signaled the end of their undefeated season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Wilmington Friends ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They never let St. Andrew's get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Surprisingly, this marked Wilmington Friends' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Wilmington Friends' victory bumped their record up to 8-4-1. St. Mark's draw gives them a new season record of 7-1-1.
