Recap: Trimble Tomcats vs. Belpre Golden Eagles
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Trimble Tomcats ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Belpre 52-50. The win was all the more spectacular given Trimble's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 628th, while Belpre is ranked 298th).
Trimble's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rilynn Fouts, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Tomlin, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Trimble's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13. As for Belpre, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Trimble will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Federal Hocking at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Trimble focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Monday. As for Belpre, they will head out on the road to face off against Waterford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waterford is coming into the match with four straight victories at home, meaning Belpre will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
