Basketball Recap: Mulberry Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Victory

Mulberry had won nine straight games and Lorianys Castanon Cruz did her part to make it ten on Monday. The Mulberry Panthers really took it to the Excel Christian Academy Spartans for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-14 win thanks in part to Castanon Cruz, who posted 27 points in addition to eight steals and five rebounds. Her evening made it 27 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Excel Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Analise DeJesus, who earned nine points. Bianca Berbick was another key player, putting up three points and nine boards.

Mulberry's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points per game. As for Excel Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Mulberry has already played their next game, a 67-28 win against Lake Gibson on the 28th. Excel Christian Academy has also already played their next match (against IMG Academy Blue), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
