Softball Recap: Pike Red Devils vs. North Central Panthers
Pike had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-14 to make it seven. They lost 16-4 to the North Central Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-3 on Friday.
As for North Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6-1. Considering they have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For North Central's part, Samantha Saalfrank was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave Saalfrank a new career-high. Kaia Pantos was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pike will square off against Perry Meridian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for North Central, they will take on Lawrence North at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
