Softball Recap: Frontier Find Success

Frontier let Valley stack seven runs on them in the seventh inning on Thursday but luckily Frontier prevailed anyway. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lumberjacks 12-11. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Lumberjacks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Mikayla Bennett made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Bennett was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kenzie Livingston was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2025. Keeley Barrows was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Frontier kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Frontier's record now sits at 7-9. As for Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Frontier has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Bridgeport on the 17th. As for Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 17-7 win against Calhoun on the 20th.
