Baseball Recap: Noble & Greenough Wins High-Profile Match Against Governor's Academy

Noble & Greenough faced Governor's Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Governors a 4-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leo Meuse tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Noble & Greenough saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Leger, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was Leger's first of the season.

Noble & Greenough's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Governor's Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Noble & Greenough will host Roxbury Latin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Foxes will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
