Soccer Recap: Pine Tree Comes Up Short

Pine Tree managed to keep up with Sabine until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Pine Tree Pirates lost 4-1 to the Sabine Cardinals. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Pirates came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Cardinals are ranked 354th).

Pine Tree's goal came courtesy of Anthony Ovalle, who's now up to three this season.

Pine Tree's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 11-2. As for Sabine, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.

Coming up, Pine Tree will challenge Tatum at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine Tree is facing Tatum at the right time seeing as Tatum is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Sabine, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Sabine duke it out with the Tenaha at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
