Softball Game Preview: Landstown Eagles vs. Manor Mustangs

The Landstown Eagles will head out to square off against the Manor Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Landstown will be strutting in after a victory while Manor will be coming in after a loss.

Landstown will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Tallwood, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles walked away with an 8-3 win over the Lions on Thursday.

Hailey Akers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Adalyn Stumler was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Aleigh Earp also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Landstown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Manor couldn't beat Churchland on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Mustangs fell just short of the Truckers by a score of 7-5. Mustangs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Truckers since on Thursday.

Manor's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-8-1. As for Landstown, their record now sits at 5-10.
