Baseball Recap: Espanola Valley Takes a Loss

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Espanola Valley was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They fell 6-2 to the Taos Tigers. The Sundevils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 11-7.

Tyller Lomayma put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Lomayma was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Espanola Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 17 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Taos, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-14.

As of now, neither Espanola Valley nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
