Basketball Recap: Duke Dengerink's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Liberty Charter over Chula Vista Learning Community Charter

Liberty Charter had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 44-40 to the Chula Vista Learning Community Charter Cobras on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 43-39 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Liberty Charter lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Duke Dengerink, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Henry Appelquist, who earned five points and three steals.

Liberty Charter has already played their next matchup, an 85-39 win against Mountain Empire on the 24th. As for Chula Vista Learning Community Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 35-30 loss against High Tech NC on the 24th.
