Softball Recap: Tri-Central's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Tri-Central had lost six games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 5-9 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Eastern Comets 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted against the Comets since May 2, 2017.

Layla Baldwin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Baldwin was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Logan Creason was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

As for Eastern, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home. Comets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Tri-Central since on Thursday.

On Eastern's side, Ava Roberson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Eastern saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elle Winger, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another was Marly Coan, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Tri-Central will be playing at home against Rossville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastern, they will challenge Elwood at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
