Football Recap: Emery Takes a Loss

Emery played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 49-7 loss at the hands of the Beaver Beavers. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Ajay Thomas threw for 89 yards and one touchdown while completing 73.7% of his passes. Krae Leroy was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards.

Davin Orton was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 138 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (153.3).

Emery's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Beaver, the win (which was their ninth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.

Emery didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 41-6 victory against Judge Memorial Catholic on the 5th. As for Beaver, they have also already played their next matchup, a 24-23 loss against Duchesne on the 5th.
