Basketball Recap: Gilbert Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Gilbert walked away with it. They managed a 68-64 victory over the Maryvale Panthers on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Maryvale lost, don't look at Adrian Stubbs. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Stubbs' big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. David Jaramillo was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Gilbert's win bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Maryvale, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-11.

Gilbert wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-46 defeat against Cesar Chavez on the 24th. Maryvale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
