Tamaqua had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  an  8-6  win over the Pine Grove Cardinals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  4-0  back in March.
 Noah Mateyak and  Mason Ligenza made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing,  Mateyak   pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. Meanwhile,  Ligenza   didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Mateyak has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate,  Mateyak  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI, while  Ligenza  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with two  stolen bases and two  runs. That's the most  RBI  Mateyak has posted since back in March.
 In other batting news, Tamaqua got a  massive  performance out of  Cooper Ansbach, who  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with three  stolen bases and two  runs. Those  three  stolen bases gave  Ansbach a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Luke Kane, who  went 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases, two  RBI,  and one  run.
Tamaqua's victory was  their seventh straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 14-1. Those  home  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Pine Grove, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record  this season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tamaqua will host Conrad Weiser  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Blue Raiders are facing the Scouts at the right time seeing as the Scouts are stuck on  a  13-game losing streak. As for Pine Grove, they will look to defend their home field  on Thursday against Pottsville  at 7:00  p.m.
