Football Game Preview: St. Thomas Aquinas Saints vs. Plymouth Bobcats

St. Thomas Aquinas is 2-7 against Plymouth since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Saints will head out on the road to square off against the Bobcats at 1:00 p.m.

St. Thomas Aquinas managed to slip by Kingswood the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Saints were outmatched by the Knights and fell 42-7. The contest marked the Saints' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, after only nine points in their last matchup, Plymouth made sure to put some points up on the board against Merrimack Valley on Friday. The Bobcats breezed past the Pride to the tune of 35-3. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 30 points or more this season.

St. Thomas Aquinas better keep an eye on Cavan Sanborn. He was instrumental in Plymouth's win, rushing for 57 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, while also throwing for 96 yards and a pair of TDs on only six passes.

Plymouth's run defense was locked in: Merrimack Valley could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. The Bobcats didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.7.

St. Thomas Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Plymouth, their record is now 7-1.

St. Thomas Aquinas came up short against Plymouth in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 20-14. Can the Saints avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
