Softball Preview: Riverton Silverwolves vs. Corner Canyon Chargers
Riverton is 4-0 against Corner Canyon since March of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Riverton Silverwolves will head out on the road to square off against the Corner Canyon Chargers at 3:30 p.m. Riverton is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
Riverton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Fremont, who was ranked 16th in their home state at the time (Riverton was ranked second). Riverton was the clear victor by a 13-1 margin over Fremont on Friday. Riverton might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Peyton Sanchez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Sanchez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Sanchez was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and a double.
In other batting news, Camryn O'Farrell was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5. Brooke Tacke was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
