Baseball Game Preview: Sonora Raiders vs. Troy Warriors

For the second straight game, Sonora will face off against Troy. The Raiders will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Warriors at 3:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sonora 2.5, Troy 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Sonora nor Troy made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Raiders had just enough and edged out the Warriors 3-1. Three seems to be a good number for the Raiders as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Robby Blaine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Lietzau, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

The win made it two in a row for Sonora and bumps their season record up to 15-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Troy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-8.
