Cranston West came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Chariho, but Jaxson Vachon wouldn't allow it. The Chargers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Falcons 3-2 with plenty of help from Vachon, who had 16 digs and four aces. He has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 12 times he's played.
Chariho took Cranston West into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-17, 21-25, 20-25, 15-13.
Chariho can attribute much of their success to Ricky Comolli, who had 36 assists and three aces, and Landon Marland, who had 28 kills, ten digs, and one block. Those 36 assists gave Comolli a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Westerly came up short against Lincoln on Wednesday and fell 3-1. The loss put an end to the Bulldogs' undefeated start to the season.
The win got Chariho back to even at 2-2. As for Westerly, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
