Kingwood's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the King Panthers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Kingwood had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-28, 25-20, 25-16, 25-19.

Emma Nelson paced Kingwood's offense, picking up 16 kills. Nelson got some help from Carly Thomas and her 33 assists. Sammi Zeller controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Kingwood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-24 record this season. As for King, they dropped their record down to 12-20 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Kingwood will take on rival Summer Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, King is set to challenge their familiar foe North Shore at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
