Recap: Regis Groff Fusion vs. Stargate School Eagles
After a string of three wins, the Regis Groff Fusion's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were outmatched by Stargate School at home and fell 73-40. Regis Groff was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.
Several Fusion players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mahmoud Ibrahim, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Matt McCoy-Vera, who scored seven points.
Regis Groff struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Dylan Perkins, who scored 16 points along with two steals for Stargate School. Perkins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Reed Schoenfeld was another key contributor, scoring a point along with 11 assists and five steals.
Regis Groff's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Stargate School, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Regis Groff the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hinkley at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Hinkley is ranked 257th, while Regis Groff is ranked 282nd). As for Stargate School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Colorado Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Colorado Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.6 points per game.
