Basketball Recap: Goleman Comes Up Short

If Goleman was riding high fresh off their 74-52 takedown of Hialeah-Miami Lakes last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Goleman Gators took a blow against the Jackson Generals on Thursday, falling 75-42. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Generals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Despite the loss, Goleman still got an impressive performance from Franki Sosa, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. The matchup was Sosa's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Lamarche, who posted seven points.

It was another big night for Jordany Fils-Aime, who put up 18 points and seven rebounds for Jackson. Another player making a difference was Leonard Clark, who had 11 points and five assists.

With the loss, Goleman broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4. As for Jackson, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Goleman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-27 win against Pinecrest Prep on the 27th. As for Jackson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-36 defeat against Lake Highland Prep on the 27th.
