Football Game Preview: Tatnall Hornets vs. Wilmington Friends Quakers

Tatnall is 1-8 against Wilmington Friends since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Hornets will face off against the Quakers at 2:00 p.m. Tatnall has given up an average of 34.2 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tatnall is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Archmere Academy on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Hornets were beaten by the Auks 44-6. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-6.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Wilmington Friends' offense. They were dealt a 32-0 defeat at the hands of Howard on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Quakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Delaware football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Wildcats are ranked fourth).

Wilmington Friends now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Tatnall, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Tatnall didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Wilmington Friends in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, but they still walked away with a 22-17 victory. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Quakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
