Baseball Game Preview: Victory Christian Academy Eagles vs. Summerfield Waldorf Mustangs

The Victory Christian Academy Eagles will face off against the Summerfield Waldorf Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Things were looking good for Victory Christian Academy after they put the first runs on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rio Lindo Adventist.

Payton Gentry and Nathan Philpott stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gentry went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Philpott scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Summerfield Waldorf). They blew past Drew 13-3 last Monday. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Lazlo G was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. G was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marcus J, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ian M, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Summerfield Waldorf always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Victory Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Summerfield Waldorf, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Victory Christian Academy couldn't quite get it done against Summerfield Waldorf in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 6-3. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
