Baseball Game Preview: Vermont Academy Wildcats vs. Holderness Bulls

Vermont Academy is a perfect 3-0 against Holderness since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Bulls at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Vermont Academy has five straight wins, Holderness has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Vermont Academy made easy work of Proctor Academy and carried off a 12-1 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won four games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Sinacola made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 5.1 innings pitched. Sinacola was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Lucas Sinacola was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Sinacola is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Milo Tucker, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Vermont Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Holderness came up short against Proctor Academy on Wednesday, falling 11-1.

Holderness' defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Vermont Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Vermont Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Holderness when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 7-3. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Bulls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
