Baseball Recap: Escambia Extends Winning Streak to Five

Escambia had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Navarre Raiders. That's two games straight that the Gators have won by just one run.

Christian Stone made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other pitching news, Parker Zareck tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Xavier Taylor, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Escambia pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Navarre, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Coming up, Escambia will be playing at home against Theodore at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Navarre, they will head out on the road to challenge Crestview at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
