Football Recap: Gibson Southern's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Gibson Southern extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 5-1. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 38-34 W against the Heritage Hills Patriots. For the Titans, this counts as revenge for the 35-18 win the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Zach Foster produced another solid effort rushing for 171 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 143 yards and one TD. Those 171 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Gibson Southern's run defense was locked in: Heritage Hills could only muster 3.4 yards per carry. While two picked up at least 15 total tackles, Colin Scherer stood above the rest. He made 15 total tackles and defended one pass. Gibson Southern didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.1.

Having lost for the first time this season, Heritage Hills fell to 5-1. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging 11.33 points allowed.

Despite the loss, Heritage Hills had strong showings from Tyler Ruxer, who picked up 134 receiving yards and one score, and Peyton Gray, who picked up 85 receiving yards and one TD. Gray also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending one pass.

Gibson Southern and Heritage Hills should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Titans (ranked 26th) will meet Washington (ranked 174th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Heritage Hills will square off against Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (43 vs. 128).
