Basketball Recap: Tallassee Comes Up Short

Tallassee lost a heartbreaker to Stanhope Elmore when they met back in December of 2022, and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. The Tallassee Tigers came up short against the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs, falling 78-57. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Tallassee still got an impressive performance from Rowen Thornton, who posted 35 points. Thornton's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Simeon Parker, who scored eight points.

Judah Gilbert had an outrageously good game for Stanhope Elmore as he went 5 for 10 on his way to 25 points and five steals. That's the most points Gilbert has posted since back in November of 2024. Terrance Collins was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Tallassee's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Stanhope Elmore, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

Tallassee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-63 loss against Stanhope Elmore on the 30th. Stanhope Elmore has also already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Elmore County on the 28th.
