Baseball Recap: Rivera Gets the Win

While Rivera put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Edcouch-Elsa. The Rivera Raiders came out on top against the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets by a score of 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Not much got past Marcos Guerrero, who gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Edcouch-Elsa off the board. What's more, Guerrero gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gilbert Moreno, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Raul Reyes, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Rivera and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Edcouch-Elsa, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Rivera will have a chance to go back-to-back against Edcouch-Elsa: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
