Softball Recap: Hamilton Heights' Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Hamilton Heights dropped their record down to 8-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Yorktown Tigers by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Huskies have suffered since April 9, 2024.

Kamryn Rhoton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenzie Jackson, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

As for Yorktown, their win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

On Yorktown's side, they let Claire Hazen and Emma Reynolds run wild. Hazen went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Reynolds went 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. That's the most hits Hazen has posted since back in May of 2024. Abbey Booher was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamilton Heights will take on Northwestern at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Yorktown, they will face off against Greenfield-Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
