The Fremont Silverwolves are taking a road trip to take on the Weber Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fremont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Davis hit Fremont with a five-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Silverwolves took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Darts. The Silverwolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Savannah Palmatier and Saige Steele did some serious damage despite the final result: Palmatier went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Steele went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Weber was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They came up short against Farmington, falling 17-6. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Phoenix since on Tuesday.
Aliya Rhees led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Raegan Blaisdell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Fremont's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Weber, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.
Weber's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fremont has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Weber, though, as they've been averaging 13.5 hits. Given Fremont's sizable advantage in that area, the Warriors will need to find a way to close that gap.
Fremont beat Weber 11-8 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Silverwolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
