Basketball Recap: Grove City Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Grove City walked away with it. They pulled ahead with a 71-70 photo finish over the Clearfield Bison on Friday.

Clearfield's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braison Patrick, who went 10-for-15 on his way to 28 points. Patrick is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 43% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah Glunt, who shot 43% from the field en route to 17 points and eight assists.

Grove City's win bumped their record up to 19-8. As for Clearfield, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-10.

Looking ahead, Grove City will challenge Cathedral Prep on Tuesday. Cathedral Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Grove City likes a good challenge. Clearfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
