Baseball Game Preview: Joliet Central Steelmen vs. Oswego East Wolves

Joliet Central hasn't had much luck against Oswego East recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Steelmen will take on the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. Joliet Central has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Joliet Central is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Saturday. They lost 15-0 to Shepard.

Meanwhile, Oswego East waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 15-2 win. The contest marked the Wolves' most dominant victory of the season so far.

The team relied heavily on Jacsen Tucker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Palermo, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Oswego East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Joliet Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Oswego East, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Joliet Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oswego East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Joliet Central suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Oswego East in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Steelmen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
